Festivals
and shows are the sign of a thriving community spirit.
Both Swansea and Gower have proof enough of this with
their many colourful fetes and carnivals during the
summer.
Gower
Festival of Music: takes place in July and August
every year when churches, chapels and village halls ring
with the sound of live music and are full of stunning
floral displays. A calendar of events is widely available
before the festival commences.
The
Gower Show: the main agricultural show in the area,
held annually on the first Thursday in August on Fairwood
Common, near the Airport.
Swansea
Music Fest: live music in Singleton Park. Held every
July.
Ostreme
Open Air Festival: a festive, fun occasion for all
the family. Held every year in Oystermouth Castle and the
Mumbles.
Llanmadoc
Carnival: the premier event of the year in Llanmadoc,
held on the Sunday of August Bank Holiday weekend.
Procession starts and the Britania Inn and proceeds
through the village to a field in Cwn Ivy.
