Gower
boasts an abundance of castles, all of which are well

in Wales, click on www.castlewales.com Weobley Castle: 5 minute drive managed by English Heritage. A fortified manor, built around a courtyard. Weobley is in excellent repair. The gatehouse, hall kitchen, keep and chapel are easily identified. There is an exhibition on the history of the Gower and other important sites in the area. Oxwich Castle 15 minute drive managed by English Heritage. Built by the Mansel family in the 16th Century to replace the abandoned Penrice Castle, it looks like a fortified manor. Castle 25 minute
drive. Established in 1100, and dominating the village of
Mumbles, Oystermouth Castle has been destroyed and
rebuilt several times as a result of fierce local
uprisings. Most of the remains date from the 13th
century. It is the venue for the Ostreme Festival.
Outdoor plays held during the summer months. Opening

Castle: 20 minute drive. Situated high above Three
Cliffs Bay and partially buried in sand, Pennard Castle
presents a ruined and desolate image. Little remains of
the 13th Century Castle apart from the twin
